MANILA, Philippines — A woman was reported missing after a landslide hit a village in Kapangan town in Benguet province, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Saturday.
In a report dated 8 a.m., NDCC identified the woman as Edna Sapalat, who it said was reportedly trapped inside her house when a landslide hit.
The NDCC said the rains caused by the monsoon trough have so far caused the evacuation of 19 families or 88 people in Benguet, Baguio City, Ifugao and Mountain Province.
Also, the NDCC said the Quirino-Cervantes Road and the Quirino-San Emilio Road in Ilocos Sur were not passable to vehicles.
Also closed due to landslides were the Baguio City Limit-Sto. Tomas Road, Itogon-Dalupirip Road, Gurei-Bokod-Kabayan-Buguias Road, and Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road.
In Baguio City, Kennon Road was closed to traffic due to rock slides.
In Ifugao, Tinoc-Buguias-Abatan Road and Tinoc-Kiangan Road were also closed. In Mountain Province, Baguio-Bontoc Road (Dantay Section and Sabangan-Pingad Section) were partially closed due to slides.
